Richard H. Foley, Jr., Attorney, Retired

Originally from Illinois, Richard received his undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks in 1976 and his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law at Camden, New Jersey, in 1981. He has been a member of the Alaska Bar Association since 1981.

Richard is a also member of WealthCounsel, a national organization of estate planning professionals; the Anchorage Estate Planning Council; the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Alaska Bar Association; the Alaska Bar Association’s Fee Arbitration and Fee Mediation Committees; and the Anchorage Bar Associations. He is a graduate of the Esperti Peterson Academy of Multidisciplinary Practice Advanced Studies Program in estate planning techniques for high net worth individuals and has been a member of InKnowVision, a national study group of lawyers, CPA’s and financial advisors committed to collaboration a serving high net worth individuals. He is currently a member of ePlanners Estate Planning Alliance a national study group of estate planning attorneys. Richard is licensed to sell life and health insurance and is knowledgeable in both areas.

Richard served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Harold A. Baker, Central District of Illinois and to Superior Court Judge Mark Rowland, Third Judicial District, Alaska. In private practice of law since 1981, Richard’s background as a litigator gives him a unique ability to assist with their business and estate planning needs. He is a co-founder of Foley & Pearson P.C., together with his wife, Susan Behlke Foley.

Richard is a frequent speaker on estate planning topics, both in Alaska and nationwide. Professional organizations, banks, brokerage firms, and community organizations and charities have benefited from his entertaining teaching style.
